What is Nokel's Ark Sober Living Home?
Nokel's Ark is a structured, alcohol- and drug-free sober living home in Houston, Texas. We provide a safe and supportive living environment for adults committed to maintaining sobriety and building stability and independence.
Is Nokel's Ark a treatment or detox home?
No. Nokel's Ark is a sober living residence and does not provide detoxification, medical care, therapy, or substance-use treatment. Residents who need clinical services may receive those services from outside providers.
Who is eligible to live at Nokel's Ark?
Applicants should be committed to living alcohol- and drug-free, able to live independently in a shared residential environment, and willing to follow the home's rules and recovery expectations. All applicants complete an application and screening process before acceptance.

Do you accept referrals?
Yes. We welcome referrals from treatment and recovery sober homes, hospitals, social workers, case managers, probation/parole professionals, community organizations, families, and other appropriate referral sources.
Is there a minimum sobriety requirement?
Applicants are evaluated individually to determine whether sober living is an appropriate level of support. Individuals who require medical detoxification or a higher level of clinical care should receive those services before entering the home.
Are residents drug tested?
Yes. Residents are expected to maintain complete abstinence from alcohol and unauthorized drugs and comply with Nokel's Ark's drug and alcohol testing policies.
Are recovery meetings required?
Yes. Residents are expected to participate in at least two recovery meetings or approved recovery-support activities each week.
Do residents have to work?
Residents are expected to have verifiable income.
Is there a curfew?
Yes. Nokel's Ark maintains a curfew to provide structure and accountability. Accommodations can be addressed for residents with verified overnight or nontraditional work schedules.
Can residents have visitors?
No. Resident visitors and guests are not permitted at the property. This policy helps maintain the privacy, safety, and stability of the home.
Are medications allowed?
Residents may take legally prescribed medications in accordance with the home's medication and safety policies. Taking prescribed medication does not automatically disqualify someone from admission.
Does Nokel's Ark provide meals?
The home provides designated household grocery basics and residents have access to kitchen sober homes. Any specific meal arrangements and resident responsibilities are explained during admission.
What should residents bring when moving in?
Residents should bring appropriate clothing, toiletries, identification, medications, employment or benefit documentation when applicable, and other approved personal necessities. A complete move-in checklist can be provided before admission.
How much does it cost?
Housing fees depend on the available room or bed arrangement. Contact Nokel's Ark for current availability, pricing, deposits or intake fees, and payment requirements.
How long can someone stay?
Length of stay depends on the resident's individual circumstances, continued compliance with house expectations, payment obligations, and progress toward stable independent living.
What happens if a resident relapses?
Resident safety is the priority. Suspected or confirmed substance use is addressed according to Nokel's Ark policies and the circumstances involved. Depending on the situation, a resident may require a higher level of care or alternative placement.

Can family members or professionals call on behalf of someone needing housing?
Yes. Families, case managers, social workers, probation/parole professionals, treatment providers, and other referral partners are welcome to contact Nokel's Ark regarding potential placement. The prospective resident will still need to complete the appropriate application and admission process.
